Kevin Van Aelst recieved a B.A. in Psychology from Cornell University in 2002 and an M.F.A. from the University of Hartford in 2005. His work calls attention to the little things, depicting them in unusual ways to bring their importance to the forefront. Aelst's work references science and identity, as well as art history and theory.
